Pick of the day #37: Wiener Neustadt – Austria Wien

March 9, 2013

My form recently has been awful, but I think I’ve found a good bet today. I have already chosen Austria Wien (Vienna) multiple times this season (with great success) and today I think that the bookies pay to much for an Austria win in thir away game to Wiener Neustadt. Austria tops the Austrian Bundesliga with 60 points in 24 games while Wiener Neustadt sits bottom with 20 points in their 24 games.

Austria Wien has four straight wins after the winter break. I saw their game against Rapid Wien a couple of weeks back when they won with 2-1 (away). In that game they did not impress very much, but after that they have managed to win more comfortably (4-0, 3-1, 4-0). Playing away has not been a problem this season (ten wins, two drawn games, and no losses!). Nacer Barazite has been out for a while, but Austria has no more injury worries.

Wiener Neustadt is struggling. They started with a 2-1 win away to bottom rivals FC Admira Wacker after the winter break, but after that game they got 0-0 at home to Ried and then lost twice away from home. They have three wins, three draws, and five losses at home this season. To this game they miss important goalkeeper Jörg Siebenhandl.

When doing my research for the game I discovered that Jesper Rydh already have motivated why Austria should score some goals. Read here (in Swedish).  Jesper has chosen Austria over 1.5 goals, but I go for the Asian Handicap.
