Pick of the day #10: Monaco – Laval

January 14, 2013

Today I planned to go for Maccabi Tel Aviv and/or Monaco. Since Maccabi’s prices have decreased heavily lately I wait for the live market on that game.

There is still great value in an AS Monaco win tonight. Monaco have a strong squad and hopefully their winter break have helped them finding the form. They have no big injury worries and only midfielder David Ndinga (7 starts/6 from the bench) out. They are currently placed third in Ligue 2, and that is probably not good enough for their rich owners. They have played one friendly against Ajaccio after the Christmas holidays and won with 2-0. At home this season they only lost one game, but have too many drawn games. Their win-draw-loss (goals) records at home read 5-4-1 (19-9).

Stade Laval are currently placed next to bottom in Ligue 2 and lost their last four league games prior to the break. They also lost (1-2) at home to Guingamp in a December cup game and against Vannes (0-4) in a friendly after the winter break. They have five players out tonight. Defender Lindsay Rose (17/0) and midfielder Gaëtan Belaud (17/0) are both suspended. Striker Lhadji Badiane has been out since November 2011 with a knee injury, veteran midfielder Jerome Lebouc (5/5) and goalkeeper Arnaud Balijon (17/0) are also injured. Considering their position in the league Laval’s away stats are not that bad. They have 2-3-5 (11-14), compared to 3-2-4 (11-12) away from home.

Monaco should win tonight and I pick the -1 Asian handicap bet. Pinnacle Sports offers the best price.

Game: AS Monaco – Stade Laval

Bet: Monaco Asian Handicap -1

Odds: 1.92 (Pinnacle)

Wager: 2

Result: 1-1

Units in total (2013): +3.82

Total wins-voids-losses (2013): 5-0-5
