Pick of the day #21: Hellas Verona – AC Cesena

November 15, 2012

Hellas Verona, 2nd in Italian Serie B with nine wins, four draws, and one loss host AC Cesena, who are struggling with three wins, four draws, and seven losses. Away from home Cesena have not won once, but have two draws and four losses and only two goals scored. Verona’s stats at home are 5-2-0. Verona have two impressive wins in their last two games, away to Ternana Calcio (0-2) and at home to Sassuolo Calcio (1-0), who top the table with 11 wins in 14 matches!

Hellas will miss goal scoring machine Daniele Cacia due to suspension. Moreover, possible replacement Valeri Bojinov is doubtful to start due to his game for his country on Wednesday night. However, they have a strong squad and should be able to handle that. Cesena’s coach Pierpaolo Bisoli have said that Hellas have a number of quality players and a team ready for Serie A already.

In average 45.5% percent of the games in Serie B end up with home wins and I believe that the home advantage will help Hellas Verona to beat AC Cesena with at least two goals. However, I stick to the Asian handicap -1 bet since Cacia is out.

RESULT: 1-1. Hellas had 1-0 in half time and apparently one goal wrongly disallowed. Cesena’s goal from nowhere…
