Pick of the day #6: Eibar – Athletic Bilbao

November 1, 2012

The form has been good recently. Let us hope it will continue.

A good bet today is probably SD Eibar – Athletic Bilbao over 11 corners @2.00. Athletic have had 13.5 corners per game in average in their matches away from home this season (where 9 are their own and 4.5 their opponent’s). Today they play Eibar in Copa del Ray. Eibar plays in the third league in Spain and should not provide too much of a threat to Athletic Bilbao. Due to Athletics’ ‘s recent form (and the fact that this is a cup game) a goal result bet does not have any value. In the corner statistics they have been more consistent and I believe they will manage around eleven corners on their own. Adding a few for the home team and the final corner sheet will go well over 11.

Athletic send their first team to Eibar. The men repsonsible for fixing a lot of corners are:

Iraizoz, Toquero, Aurtenetxe, Amorebieta, San José, Iturraspe, Llorente, De Marcos, Ibai, Raúl, Susaeta, Iraola, Muniain, Aduriz, Ander Herrera, Castillo.

They may perhaps rest a couple of players but the team has quality enough to put pressure on Eibar. A team managed by Marcelo Bielsa will always play offensive, no matter what part of the squad he uses. Corner betting is always a bit tricky however and I stick to five units.

Another  bet with good value today comes from Serie A in Italy and the clash Genoa – Fiorentina. I am rather convinced that both teams will score here and 1.80 for Both Team To Score (BTTS) from Bet365 is really good. Genoa have scored in 14 straight home games and Fiorentina have scored in 9/10 away games. Enough said, the value for 1.80 is good, but after some thought I put a bit more value on the corner bet above and choose that as my pick of the day.

Game: SD Eibar – Athletic Bilbao

Bet: Over 11 corners

Odds: 2.00 (Bet365)

Value: 5/10 units

Result: 6+7=13 corners (0-0 final score). +5 units

Units in total: +18.45

Total wins-voids-losses: 5-0-1
