Players from UK in Sweden

June 14, 2012

Yesterday I posted a list over all Swedish players in the English Premier League over the years. Here is a list of players that have performed the other less glamorous journey, going from UK to the Swedish Allsvenska. The list consists of each player’s name, country, and clubs in the highest league in Sweden. The names are taken from this Wikipedia site.

Calum Angus – England – GAIS
Lee Boylan – England – Trelleborg
Steve Gardner – England – IFK Göteborg, GAIS
Colin Hill – Northern Ireland – Trelleborg
James Keene – England – GAIS, Elfsborg, Djurgården
Gary Locke – England – Halmstad
Sammy McIlroy – Northern Ireland – Örgryte
Malcolm McPherson – Scotland – Norrköping
Kenny Pavey – England – AIK
Andy Roddie – Scotland – Ljungskile
Daryl Smylie – Northern Ireland – Ljungskile, Kalmar

Thus, according to these stats only eleven players from UK and no Welsh have played in the Allsvenska. Of this eleven four still play in Sweden today, Calum Angus for GAIS, James Keene for Djurgården, Kenny Pavey for Ljungskile (in the second League), and Daryl Smylie for Jönköping Södra (second league).
