Big money for non-scouted players

During and after each Euro and World Cup Championship (and other international tournaments) a couple of players who haven’t done an awful lot at club level are suddenly sold for big money. That sort of short-term thinking is seldom the best methodology when buying players. Large transfer fees should – in general – not be associated with non-scouted players.
